Brand new Round mandolin from Montgomery, TX builder John Liestman. John's mission was to create an instrument for mandolin players struggling to be heard and to hear themselves in an acoustic session, and we can verify that he has succeeded!
John is longtime friend of the shop, accomplished musician, and mandolin enthusiast. He knows fine instruments having owned and played many of today's top builders instruments.
This is a very powerful instrument with an incredible amount of volume without the brashness of a cone resonator instrument or the staccato of a banjo. It has a charming woody quality, and while not quite like a traditional mandolin tone, we find it to be a very lovely and unique sound. Based on the rare vintage resonator type instruments from Paramount and Iucci, John has really created something all his own and we are proud to offer his creations to the mandolin community. Stop by and take one for a spin. We think you will be just as impressed as we are!
Woods are red spruce, curly maple, walnut and gaboon ebony, Brekke bridge made by Bruce Weber, Rubner tuners, twin non-adjustable truss rod and extra thick ebony fretboard, carbon fiber and steel internal support structures, clear pickguard, 15-1/4" scale length designed for light ball end strings (.034-.009), 1-1/4" bone nut. Comes with a custom made hardshell case.
