Ellis A4 Special - Diamond Wire

Just in from our good friends down the street at the Ellis workshop, a masterpiece of an oval hole mandolin if ever there was one. Every detail of this instrument, from the aesthetic to the sound, is exemplary from this master of modern mandolin building. 

If you have the opportunity to stop by and see this instrument in person, even if you aren't in the market, we highly encourage you to so. Otherwise, we'll just have to let the pictures speak for themselves. Sonically, this mandolin could not get any better to our ears. Beautiful, rich depth balanced out perfectly by crisp, clear definition. The balance is second to none, both across the strings as well as up and down the fretboard, which is even more impressive given the wonderful open responsiveness and power of the instrument. One of the finest, if not the finest, oval hole mandolins to have every crossed our path.

Adirondack spruce top, Sugar maple back/sides/neck (one piece back), varnish finish, custom "Diamond Wire" pearl headstock inlay, fully bound in triple tortoise binding, intricate herringbone sound hole rosette, ebony pickguard with tortoise binding, Ellis made "full contact" ebony adjustable bridge, radiused ebony fretboard with pearl position markers, Waverly tuners with ebony buttons, engraved James tailpiece, EVO fret wire, ebony endpin with pearl eye, adjustable truss rod, 1-1/8" bone nut. Comes with a custom Calton case bearing the Ellis logo.
