Mid-30's Gibson TG-50 in excellent vintage condition. It shows the wear and aging associated with most any instrument approaching 100 years, but it structurally sound, showing no sign of repairs or alteration. We believe the instrument is all original with exception of a replaced gasket on one of the tuning machines.
This is a fantastic sounding instrument with an obviously deeper/richer sound than the later years of this model that we have encountered. Beautiful, seasoned tone that only comes with years and playing. Every note produces a wonderfully deep and woody resonance while still exhibiting crisp clarity and definition. The set-up is low and comfortable with room in the adjustable bridge to adjust to personal preference. We have it strung GDAE (octave mandolin) but CGDA or DGBE would work great with a simple string change. If you have been searching for a premium tenor guitar, come and check this one out!
Spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, ebony adjustable bridge, adjustable truss rod, Grover tuners, 22-7/8" scale length, 1-3/16" nut width. Comes with a nice period hardshell case.
