2012 Jayson Bowerman Bouzouki
2012 Jayson Bowerman Bouzouki
2012 Jayson Bowerman Bouzouki in good condition although showing a considerable amount of wear and blemishes. This instrument was built for mandolin virtuoso Kym Warner (labeled as such) and has been gigged heavily since it was made and we just acquired it from Kym. That said, this bouzouki is structurally sound with no prior repairs and none needed, and being priced accordingly this represents a fantastic value for those not deterred by aesthetic wear.
This is an absolutely wonderful sounding instrument with a deep and rich voice while simultaneously producing crisp, dry, and crystal clear note definition. Ultra responsive and resonant, it responds in the most remarkable way to just the lightest touch. The tone has a powerful yet delicate quality to it that is hard to describe, but is undeniably beautiful played with any sort of dynamic range. Certainly one of the finest sounding bouzoukis to ever come through our shop!
The set up is low and comfortable to play in all positions with no issues. It is currently set up for Irish bouzouki/octave mandolin tuning (GDAE) with octave pairs on the G and D, unison on the A and E (one wound, one unwound A, and two unwound E strings). Kym says that the instrument also works very well with the Greek bouzouki tuning of CFAD, although a string change would be in order for that tuning. A K&K internal pickup is in place that works flawlessly and is very true to the wonderful acoustic tone of the instrument.
Adirondack spruce top, Hawaiian koa back and sides, tortoise binding, mahogany neck, radiused ebony fretboard with small pearl position markers, ebony bridge, 23-7/8" scale length, 1-3/8" nut width, hardshell case included.
