2007 Ellis F5

2007 Ellis F5 in excellent condition. There are a few very minor and sparse pick marks/dings but they require close scrutiny and angling in light to notice. The varnish has settled into the wood with a spectacular patina.

This is an absolutely incredible instrument in every way possible and exemplifies why Tom Ellis has earned his reputation as one of the greatest mandolin builders of all time. The mandolin is powerful and loud but at the same time exhibits a delicate and subtle character in each note. It responds beautifully to a light touch but also unveils new levels of tonality when played with more vigor. A very rewarding experience for the player that uses dynamics and varied technique. Perfectly balanced across the string courses as well as up and down the entire fretboard. The mandolin has been professionally set-up and it plays beautifully in all positions with no issues whatsoever.

Adirondack spruce top, Sugar maple back/sides/neck (one piece back), varnish finish, fully bound, Ellis' "Bella" pearl headstock inlay, radiused ebony fretboard w/pearl position markers, Waverly tuners w/pearl buttons, Ellis made "full contact" ebony adjustable bridge, bound ebony pickguard, Ellis engraved James tailpiece, adjustable truss rod w/ebony coverplate, ebony endpin w/pearl eye, 1-1/8" bone nut. A very nice Airloom Tura case is included.
