2006 Gilchrist Model 4

2006 Gilchrist Model 4 in excellent condition. A few light scratches here and there and some minor finish checking, but in wonderful condition for an instrument approaching 20 years of service.

A beautiful tribute to the legendary Gibson F4 by a legendary builder. Anyone that concerns themselves with mandolins at all will know that Stephen Gilchrist is considered one of the greatest builders of all time, and this instrument is a beautiful example of why that is. The fit and finish work are far superior to anything we have seen on an original F4 and sonically it delivers where we feel a lot of those mandolins sometimes fall short, particularly in the clarity department. Crisp, clean notes and definition in all of the registers with incredible balance while maintaining just enough of that magic hollow sound of the great vintage oval hole mandolins. The mandolin is set up perfectly and plays great in all positions with no issues whatsoever.

Adirondack/Red Spruce top, Sugar Maple back and sides from the infamous Gilchrist "D-Log", varnish finish, pearl flowerpot headstock inlay and logo, fully bound with vintage style side binding, Waverly tuners, flat ebony fretboard w/pearl position markers, ebony adjustable bridge, Gilchrist proprietary tailpiece, vintage style tortoise pickguard, adjustable truss rod, 1-1/8" pearl nut. Comes with its original Calton case in excellent condition.
