2004 Gibson A-9

2004 Gibson A9 in very good condition. It has the small nicks, dings, and scrapes of most instruments that have been in constant service for 20 years but the mandolin is 100% crack free and structurally perfect with no prior repairs and none needed.

This is a great sounding mandolin with the strong woody/fundamental tone that Gibsons of this era are known for. It has plenty of power to cut through a jam session and its organic tone would record beautifully. The tone is nicely balanced around a strong, popping midrange that holds form up and down the neck. This would make a wonderful bluegrass or old time mandolin, but also appeal to anyone who appreciates a simpler "wood and strings" type of tonal character.

The mandolin is set up and plays well in all positions with a nice low action. Spruce top, maple back/sides/neck, ebony adjustable bridge, adjustable truss rod, flat fretboard, 1-1/16" nut width. Comes with a TKL hardshell case, likely original to the instrument.
