1999 Flatiron Artist A5

1999 Flatiron Artist A5 in good condition. Showing wear in form of dings and scratches, as well as some marring from the bridge being in the incorrect position, but structurally excellent with no prior repairs and none needed. The mandolin was recently set-up at Tom Ellis' shop and an Ellis made full contact bridge and pick guard were added. The original bridge is included with the mandolin.

This is a great sounding mandolin with great depth and a charming woody character to the tone. Nice balance across the strings and up and down the fretboard. Volume and power to be heard in an ensemble of instruments with a good strong chop. This is a Nashville Gibson made mandolin (Gibson master model label), but interestingly it is X-braced like the older Montana made Flatiron mandolins and as such seems to have a slightly deeper/darker sound than is typical from this era. Flat fretboard, 1-1/16" nut width. Hardshell case included.
