1996 Bourgeois A-500 17" Archtop
1996 Bourgeois A-500 17" Archtop
1996 Dana Bourgeois A-500 in excellent condition. There are a few very minor dings here and there but the instrument is in absolutely incredible condition for going on 30 years old.
We have had many Bourgeois guitars come through the shop over the years, but this is the first archtop that we have ever encountered. We just spoke to the shop and they said that there were only a handful of these made, and while they did not have good records for this model they believe with the serial number (000420) that this is a 1996 build, which was the first year of production. No surprise that we are completely impressed with this guitar! Dana Bourgeois is widely known as a premier builder and his talent is on full display with this instrument. Beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail in every aspect using the finest quality materials and components. In our opinion the sound is among the finest available. A wonderful balance of rich depth and crisp, woody clarity with lots of power and resonance. Superb balance across the strings as well as up and down the fretboard. The guitar has been set up and plays easily in all positions with no issues whatsoever.
Spruce top, maple back/sides/neck, fully bound in grained ivoroid with black purflings, ebony fretboard with pearl block position markers, ebony adjustable bridge, custom tailpiece with ebony overlay, bound ebony pick guard, Schaller tuners with ebony buttons, ebony headstock veneer with pearl inlaid logo, adjustable truss rod with pearl cover plate, 25-1/2" scale length, 1-3/4" bone nut.
