1965 Martin D-18
1965 Martin D-18
1965 Martin D18 in very good vintage condition. There are the scrapes and dings associated with any instrument that has been in service this long. There is a repaired 3" crack on the side (treble) and tight "B string" top crack from the scale side of the bridge to the pick guard. The bridge plate has been repaired with veneer over the string holes internally. The replacement tuners are Gotoh 510 Delta Series. A strap button has been added at the neck heel.
This guitar was just recently brought back to life by the highly regarded local luthier Urban Eisley (out of the shop of Dick Dubois). Urban performed a neck reset, full compression re-fret, and set up. The guitar now plays wonderfully with no issues and sounds fantastic. It's ready for another 60 years of music!
Beautiful, deep tone with a crisp and dry tonal character that can only be achieved through years of playing. While Martin guitars of this era may not have the cannon like bass response of the coveted pre-war examples, they still boast plenty of power and volume with a more balanced and focused tonal character. This is an exceptional example of a mid-sixties D-18 with all of the mojo of a well played and loved guitar. 1-11/16" nut width. Comes with a vintage brown wool lined case.
