1956 Gibson A-40

1956 Gibson A-40 in great vintage condition. It shows a few dings and finish abrasions but not very much for a 70 year old instrument. Its likely the cleanest example that we have seen over the years.

This is a great little instrument with a charming, woody, fundamental type tone and one of the nicer sounding examples of these that we have had. While not a "bluegrass monster" when it comes to power, the sound is sweet and lovely with great balance across the strings and up the neck. The mandolin has been set-up and plays great in all positions with a nice low action. The original tuners were replaced with Golden Age Gibson replicas as well as a replacement adjustable bridge. 1-3/16" nut width. Modern hardshell case included.
