1949 Gibson LG-1
1949 Gibson LG-1
1949 Gibson LG-1 in good vintage condition. It shows its share of dings and scrapes but nothing outside of the norm for an instrument of this age that has been in service. Finish checking/cracks but no cracks through the wood. We believe that the guitar has had a neck reset as it has a nice low action with plenty of saddle material proud of the bridge. Some pitting on the first fret but it doesn't effect playing at all.
This is an outstanding small body guitar with a wonderful, crisp vintage tone. The ladder bracing of the LG-1 produces a charming woody tone that is even across the tonal spectrum with lots of pop and clarity. While these guitars are often sought after by fingerstyle and country blues players, this example sounds great flat picked and would be suitable for virtually any genre of music. The set up is low and comfortable and the guitar plays easily in all positions with no issues.
Spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck, Brazilian rosewood bridge and fretboard, 24-3/4" scale length, 1-11/16" nut width. Comes with a modern Superior brand hardshell case.
