Sale SOLD

1922 Gibson A2 in very good vintage condition. It shows a good amount of wear in the form of dings, scratches, and finish abrasions, but nothing outside of the scope of an instrument that has been in service for over 100 years. No cracks or prior repairs.

The tuners are 1920's "arrow" replacements from a Gibson snakehead model from the same era. One of the spare tailpiece prongs is missing as well as the pick guard. The mandolin has been re-fretted with modern sized fret wire and the frets are in fine condition. A new, and very nice Crossrock fiberglass case was designed for this mandolin and is included in the sale.

This is a wonderful example of a Loar era Gibson mandolin. Beautiful, rich tone with an extraordinary amount of ring and sustain. This one is extra "lively" and the notes pop with a brilliant woody character all over the fretboard. Great balance across the string courses and neck positions. The set-up is low and comfortable and the mandolin plays easily in all positions with no issues whatsoever. An incredibly fine sounding, and playing vintage Gibson! 13-7/8" scale length, 1-3/16" nut width.
